January Update

Here’s what happened in January 2016:

  • We enjoyed having Renita Zook here for the month of January. She is in teacher training at Faith Builders, and chose to do her teaching apprenticeship at Gateway to English. She observed classes, helped teach, and visited Graceland school in Krakow for additional apprenticing.
  • Our English night for January had a coffee shop theme. We had gourmet baked goods, outstanding coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and a congenial evening with the students who showed up to help us launch the new year.
  • It was really special having Regina Yoder visit, along with four friends from Ireland. Regina spent two years here teaching the Hershberger children.
  • The children were thrilled to finally get enough snow to go sledding. For at least two weeks, the temperature was rarely over 25 F, and the sleds were put to good use.

Financial and Material Needs

We are looking for two men to commit to two-year terms of providing instruction in conversational English at Gateway to English, starting in August/September 2016. Teaching experience is preferred but not absolutely required. To volunteer or to recommend someone for this position, please contact Shannon Lehman at 814-789-2812 or personnel@aimpoland.org.

Increased tuition income from Gateway to English has provided better cash flow over the past few months, for which we are grateful. The monthly budget for AIM is $13,000 per month. Currently, around $5,000 of that is being provided by tuition. This should continue through April.

If you would like additional information about how funds are used or if you wish to pledge ongoing support, please contact Matthew Mast at homeoffice@aimpoland.org or call 814-789-4394.
