Saturday
As the choir woke up to our first tour day, a travel day with a concert in the evening, there was a calm and mainly orderly atmosphere as everyone began the process of packing their belongings and choir uniforms. The excitement of the upcoming adventure filled the air, and the anticipation of the first concert added an extra energy to the morning as we sat down for breakfast…well, for most individuals that is. Each member double-checked they had everything they needed for the first 5-day tour to southern Poland, including a passport check before boarding the bus.
The bus was full of chatter and discussion for most of the 5hr trip. The scenic views outside the bus window provided a relaxing backdrop for the journey as we got to see more of Poland after 3 days at our rehearsal location. Some took the opportunity to tell jokes, discuss Biblical principles, talk about occupation experiences, doze off, or practice their music.
Around noon, the bus made a stop at a travel plaza where the choir members enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the AIM staff. The break provided a chance for everyone to stretch their legs, enjoy the great outdoors, and grab some coffee and other items before continuing on the road. The camaraderie among the group continues to grow stronger as we continue to share and get to know each other better, especially over meal times. With full stomachs and high spirits, the choir eagerly continued their journey to Palowice. 15 minutes before arriving at the church, the choir also had the opportunity to shop at Biedronka, a Polish grocery chain. Trying to find a small item or snack to give us strength till our evening meal, was an experience. Our choir group dominated the shop, but the choir members enjoyed roaming and finding different kinds of European grocery items.
The choir arrived at Palowice in high spirits, eager and ready for their first concert. We were hosted and greeted by an open, engaged, and friendly audience. Their energy, applause, and kind engagement helped the evening cruise by. With the goal of sharing the blessings of Jesus and encouraging the Christian community, the choir was determined to deliver a memorable and impactful performance that would resonate with the audience.
Praise to God for a good first concert! Sure it wasn’t perfect, but the presence of Jesus was felt by both audience and choir members
At the end of the concert, the choir members mingled with the audience, exchanging smiles, nods, and handshakes, as communication was difficult with the language barrier.
The church had a “grill” or picnic awaiting us after the concert. Delicious grilled chicken, Kielbasa, and salad were consumed.
Lodging tonight also happened here at the church, so the choir relaxed for a couple hours with chats, walks, and volleyball
We have a 6.30am meeting time tomorrow, so it’s off to bed.
