2024 - Day 2

HS_24-blog_02

Thursday

Another good, long day of rehearsal is coming to a close.

Today the choir again practiced from morning till evening, digging deep and finding the energy needed to practice our songs, diction, and Polish pronunciations. We are excited to have Adam, from Poland, be a part of The Hope Singers this year. He assisted us today in working through some of our repertoire,  line by line,  with the mouth filling and difficult pronunciation of Polish words.

One choir member describes the experience of learning Polish as: “Filling your mouth with alphabet soup, only consonants, and trying to talk.”  Polish is difficult, but with practice and helpful tips, we will succeed in learning the words and phrases.

With different choir members polled,  the consensus is that it was a good day,  moments of panic inducing times when trying to sing off book and realizing more memorization must happen.

This evening you could find the choir members practicing and memorizing in different locations around our rehearsal location, in small groups or personal practice.

So though the pressure and stress is high, we had a good day singing together and getting to know each other better.
