November Update

Here’s what happened in November 2014:

  • November was full of English school activities. All of the teachers are busy, between teaching English in groups and individual lessons, plus a Polish lesson most days. It seems that some of our students keep coming back because of the atmosphere of cheer and warmth in the school and not because they are so in love with English. We love to see that happening!
  • Thanksgiving is an American holiday, so most Polish people don’t know what it’s about. We planned a Thanksgiving evening and invited our students and their families to join us. We had a short presentation on how we celebrate the holiday in America, and had games for everyone to take part in. Most importantly, there was pumpkin pie, apple pie, cranberry salad, and spiced cider for everyone to enjoy.
  • The school operates as normal on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, but the team will celebrate the holiday together on Saturday.
  • The youth and children’s choirs are practicing songs and memorizing verses for a Christmas program. Jewel and Sarah are directing these activities, and the children are excited!

We are seeking a single woman to join the volunteer teaching staff at Gateway to English, starting in September 2015. To volunteer or to recommend someone for this position, please contact Shannon Lehman at 814-789-2812 or sklmail124@gmail.com.

Each month on average we need over $11,000 in contributions to support two families and five volunteers, operate the English school, and translate and distribute the Seed of Truth in Polish. Donations can be earmarked to staff support, Gateway to English, or Seed of Truth. If you wish to pledge ongoing support, please contact Matthew Mast at homeoffice@aimpoland.org or 814-789-4394.

Our prayer and praise requests are updated at www.aimpoland.org/pray/.
